Oil and frying fat
Oil, grease or frying fat from cooking clogs the pipes when washed down the drain. Put it in the food waste instead or collect and hand it in at the recycling central (Återvinningscentral).
Leave this at the recycling central:
- liquid frying fat
- cooking oil
- residual oil from pickled foods
How to collect and storage the fat
- Pour the fat left over from cooking into a transparent plastic bottle.
- Wait until the fat has cooled and pour it through a funnel, for example into a standard PET bottle. Make sure the bottle is clean.
- If there is not a lot of fat, you can wipe out the frying pan or pot with paper towels and put it directly into the food waste.
- When buying foods that have been marinated in oil, such as tuna, olives and sun-dried tomatoes, you can strain the cooking fat directly into the bottle.
- Save the bottle and fill up when you hade left over fat from cooking. Then hand in the full bottle to a recycling central.
